Membership Benefits

By joining RWNZ, you will receive many wonderful benefits:

  • Heart to Heart
Our monthly publication offers member articles as well as contributing articles from other professional writers, Market News, Contest and Conference information.

  • The Clendon Award
This annual contest for a full length romance manuscript is fast gaining a reputation as one of the genre's "must enter" contests. Final judging is by Senior Editorial staff from romance's top publishers.

  • Other Writing Contests
RWNZ runs three contests throughout the year:
the Chapter Short Story, the Great Beginnings (for category manuscripts) and the Strictly Single (for single title and young adult manuscripts).

  • Liaisons
RWNZ's annual short story anthology, which publishes the top ten entries from the Chapter Short Story Contest, and which includes interviews with leading romance writers.

  • Annual Conference
This is the highlight of the year for most members. RWNZ conferences always attract terrific speakers and workshop leaders from the writing world, including top romance authors, editors and industry professionals.

  • Critique Register
A self selection register where you can find the perfect critique partner.

  • Lending Library
A resource library of tapes and books to assist in the craft of writing.

  • On-Line Discussion List
The NZRomance email list is a support and discussion forum for members. It's a great way to network, keep on top of the latest industry news, ask questions and compare notes with other writers. The list offers a regular and digest version.

  • Regional Meetings
Regular meetings are held by member groups in several regions of NZ, the largest of which is run by the Auckland Chapter on the first Saturday of each month in Three Kings. All local members and visiting members are welcome to attend the meetings.

Although the format of the meetings varies between regions, they commonly include a writing-related workshop and/or a critiquing exercise, the sharing of industry news, networking and food!
