We’re excited to announce the return of the Romance Writers of New Zealand conference, 7-8 August, 2021.
We’d like to invite you to attend ‘Love Finds A Way’ – our 2021 conference celebrating our local kiwi talent and the resilience and tenacity we need to survive and thrive in these strange times. Here’s everything you need to know so far.
James Cook Hotel, Wellington, 7-8 August.
The hotel is centrally-located on the Terrace/Lambton Quey, with onsite parking and easy access to bus/airport routes. Cafes, shops, bars, and restaurants – as well as tourist attractions like Te Papa, the cable car, Parliament, and many art galleries – are right outside your door.
A two-day conference of keynotes, workshops, panels, roundtables, and more. Our gala awards dinner will be held at the James Cook hotel on Saturday night.
Hear from a star-studded lineup of local talent, including:
Nalini Singh is the New York Times and internationally bestselling author of the Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series of paranormal romances. She also writes New Zealand-set thrillers, the most recently released of which is Quiet in Her Bones. Born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand, Nalini was first published in 2003. Her books have sold over seven million copies worldwide.
Jay Hogan is a 2020 Lambda Literary Award Finalist in Gay Romance. She is a New Zealand author writing mm romance and romantic suspense, primarily set in New Zealand. She writes character driven romances with lots of humour, a good dose of reality and a splash of angst. She’s travelled extensively, lived in many countries, and in a past life she was a critical care nurse, nurse educator and counsellor. Jay is owned by a huge Maine Coon cat and a gorgeous Cocker Spaniel.
Anne Malcom is the bestselling author of dark and gritty contemporary romance. She has been an avid reader since before she can remember. Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon. She has backpacked across Europe, ridden camels in the Sahara, eaten her way through Italy, and had all sorts of crazy adventures. Anne has recently returned to NZ after COVID derailed her life overseas and she’s excited to become part of our kiwi writing community.
Jayne Castel writes award-winning epic Historical and Fantasy Romance. She has written a number of Amazon best-selling series set in Ancient and Medieval Scotland. Her vibrant characters, richly researched historical settings, and action-packed adventure romance transport readers to forgotten times and imaginary worlds. When she’s not writing, Jayne is reading (and re-reading) her favorite authors, cooking Italian feasts, and going for long walks with her husband, Tim—who is also her long-suffering editor!
Conference attendees will be able to pitch a selection of international editors and agents online during the weeks either side of conference. These appointments are only available to delegates with a completed manuscript (or experienced authors with a proposal) and are first in, first served.
Will open shortly with early-bird pricing for members. We’ve capped the numbers at 100 delegates total, so it pays to register early.
Conference has been designed so that it’s possible to operate under L2 restrictions. However, in the event of a lockdown it will be most likely that the event will be postponed. Tickets will be refundable for COVID-related changes, and please note if you’re flying from elsewhere in NZ that AirNZ offers flight changes at no-cost and credits on flights not taken.
RWNZ conference is so much more than great speakers and cocktails – it couldn’t happen without YOU! You bring your energy, your expertise, and your dreams to make this event a success.
We’re working hard behind the scenes to create an amazing event to let our local authors shine! We have some REALLY exciting surprises to reveal, so keep an eye on the website and H2H every month for more conference announcements.
Can’t wait to see you there!
